It’s the most wonderful time of the year…to watch cozy, delightful movies during these long dark nights, with a crackling fire and a mug of hot chocolate. Break out the grand houses, beautiful sets and maybe a bit of linen dress love. Our Top 5 favorites include:
1. Pride and Prejudice
The 2005 adaptation featuring Keira Knightly in beautiful dresses that will have you dreaming of all the linen things are reason enough to watch this, let alone the gorgeous Bennet house (don’t tell me that you haven’t considered painting the interior of your house that beautiful rustic blue?!) with the dreamiest music and of course, Mr Darcy.
2. About Time
Starring Rachel McAdams and Domhnall Gleeson. The sheer Britishness of this movie is simply worth it alone, let alone the wonderful storyline focusing on family, love and time travel.
3. Amelie
I love this movie that follows the life of Amelie, a girl in Paris who has her own sense of justice - so many wonderful peeks of everyday Parisian life in this lovely, whimsical, quirky movie.
4. Paddington 2
The sweetest movie - who doesn’t love Paddington Bear?! Hugh Grant plays the perfect villain, making this one such a great family film. The sets are so inspiring, I adore the pink party prison scenes!
5. The Holiday
Look, I know Jude Law’s “Mr NapkinHead” part in this film was probably an all time career low for him, and Jack Black and Cameron Diaz are also not playing their finest roles, BUT the little English Cottage and the Los Angeles mansion are both worth sitting through this movie!
