Circular Fashion

A driving motivator behind starting Pyne & Smith was - and continues to be - a counter to fast fashion. How can we make healthy garments that echo the construction & quality of garments from the past, that don't go into landfill but instead offer years of wear, and are eventually passed down or resold on to another good home?

No.1 - The Textiles We Choose.
Linen is a 100% natural fiber. It lasts for decades with normal wear and care, you'll reach for it regularly becuase it's breathable, comfortable and soft. But, it will wear in high friction areas. This is where it's time to mend that beloved garment you've invested in. See our guides for sewing on a button and mending linen here.

No.2 - Quality Construction.
Our garments are more costly than fast fashion pieces, but they are cut & sewn with care here in Los Angeles. Our sewing contractor is audited quarterly for safe working conditions and fair pay, and we visit regularly during the time our garments are being constructed. They are honest, hard working and transparent. That aside, they care about their employees, are working on the floor with them, and are often the first to arrive & the last to leave. (you can read more and see pic's & videos on our Instagram highlights.)

No.3 - Repair & Care.
We believe you need to care for your garments in order for them to last, so we work on offering guides on these steps - our newsletter features a full care guide for your natural fiber garments, as well as blogs that you can visit here.

No.4 - What to do with your garment if it's no longer right for you? Our bodies change over time, sometimes our style changes too. We recommend reselling your dress on the many online portals, you can read more on our blog post here.
